men & Talking....
why is it so hard?
men & Talking....
why is it so hard?
why is it so hard?
why is it so hard?
Men's lack of being not able to talk about the shit is literally killing us.
My mission is to be a spokesman for male mental health, I believe men are able to talk and given the right conditions we can change the tide and get us talking in a more meaningful way.
Talking doesn't have to be scary, it doesn't have to be unnatural. you can swear, you can speak about drugs, talk being an arse to others or just start with "I don't know what to say"
Using Photography to make it easier to talk about mental health.
- tailored workshops for businesses, schools and charities
- free-to-join monthly men's group run in High Wycombe town centre.
My journey with dealing with Men in the counselling arena began in 2015, I needed to talk about a specific topic and present research for my training.
I had just read Matt Haig; Reasons to Stay Alive and was taken by his open, honest approach. The research I then did about male suicide made me see the huge issue we had, we (men) needed help but the services were not always accessible.
It made me think of my own struggles with mental health and also how the approach for men may need to be a little different.
I saw people I knew with issues and not accessing the mental health services I was training to work in so the Balls2Talk journey began.
Talking therapy was predominantly female-led and with a strong line in soft fabrics!
Since qualifying I have developed my career as a sole practitioner, specialised in working with males and also co-founded a local support group using photgraphy to enable conversations.
I am happy to talk about male mental health to you or your cause, this stuff matters.
